Plane hit by lightning on runway — but only delayed by 20 minutes

The Delta Airlines jet - Boeing 737, which was carrying 117 passengers, got hit by lightning while waiting on the runway at Atlanta International Airport, Georgia.

Despite being hit by the one billion volt bolt, no one was injured and the plane was able to take off for Las Vegas – arriving only 20 minutes late.

Footage of the dramatic incident on Tuesday was caught on camera and a 36-second clip has gone viral since being posted online.

Delta confirmed the incident caused no reason for panic after inspectors carried out thorough checks.
