Full Time: Liverpool 2-1 Southampton - Sterling and Sturridge step up without Suarez

Ladies and gentlemen, as today marked the second day of a new Premier League season! How good does it feel to see the EPL be back? Well, if you're a Southampton fan its not a good day but for the Liverpool fans its a wonderful day as Liverpool got off to a wining start by seeing off a stubborn Southampton side at Anfield.

Liverpool scored two goals and earned 3 points in their first premier league match of the new season, Steering and sturidge scored for liverpool and Nathaniel Clyne scored the only goal for the visitors.


Southampton equalised stearing goal within 56 minutes of the play time and it was the wonder boy ­Sturidge who provided the winner with barely 10 minutes remaining.
