Arsene Wenger slams Steven Gerrard

Saturday, 2nd August 2014 - Arsene Wenger slams Steven Gerrard

NO ONE is too good for Arsenal!

Arsene Wenger has slammed Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard for telling Luis Suarez that he was too good for Arsenal.

Gerrard reportedly told striker Suarez to snub Arsenal because the Gunners were not at his level. And while Wenger understands Gerrard's hopes to keep him around, he says that Arsenal are a big enough club for any player in the world,

He said: “You’re never too good for Arsenal and Steven Gerrard knows that.

But I can understand completely why he advised him to stay.

“He wanted to play with him and have a chance to win the Premier League but it didn’t happen and Suarez left.”

Ultimately Suarez made the move to Barcelona this summer and while Liverpool have reinvested the money the received for the Uruguayan they are yet to land anybody as high-profile as Arsenal’s Chilean arrival Alexis Sanchez.
