Kelly Rowland joins  Empire's second season and she will be playing her role as Lucious Lyon's mother!

The former Destiny's Child star, Kelly Rowland has been lined up to play Lucious Lyon's mother in the second season of the hit hip-hop drama Empire.

According E! News, Kelly Rowland  will appear in flashback scenes along with Terrence Howard's character.

Kelly joined an A-list cast of guest stars already announced for the sophomore season.

They include Oprah Winfrey, Chris Rock and Marisa Tomei, who will play a demanding venture capitalist.

They will appear alongside rockers Lenny Kravitz and Alicia Keys and rapper Common.

The new season starts September 23rd.
