Kenya's Westgate shopping mall has reopened for business almost two years after Somali jihadists stormed in and massacred 67 shoppers and staff in four days of carnage.

The complex, Nairobi's most upmarket shopping centre was badly damaged in the assault by al-Qaeda-affiliated Shabaab rebels and has undergone months of renovation. Al- Shabaab said they attacked the mall as retaliation for the presence of Kenyan troops in Somalia.

Already there are people on literally every floor overlooking the escalator and there are people going up and down walking into shops that have re-opened, restaurants are already full.

Kenyans coming here and passing messages that they are ready to rise from the ashes and remain resilient some shop owners said they were not going to come back here because they were too traumatized by previous events when the attack happened here. And 67 people were killed but  there are new shop outlets that have come and set base here.
