NADINE KESSLER wins FIFA Women's Player of the Year 2014

Nadine Kessler , who plays for Wolfsburg and Germany midfielder was named women's player of the year, beating Marta (Brazil and Rosengard) and Abby Wambach (USA and Western New York Flash)

This is what Kessler said after receiving the award:

'This is a great moment but we have the tragedy that has hit our club (20-year-old Junior Malanda died in a car crash last week) and we are struggling to find the right words but it is time to address that.
'My club, my coach and my other team members need this award too.'
