Miss Tanzania contest suspended for 2 years


Since the announcement of the Former Miss Tanzania 2014, Sitti Mtemvu which resulted to the allegations that she has falsified her age among other things including her education. But she denied the claims.

The scandal continued until 8th November,2014 the day that Miss Tanzania Committee conducted a press conference in Dar es salaam to announce that Sitti Mtemvu has written a letter to the discretion of herself, that she stripped off the title and the committee has decided to pass it to Lilian Kamazima who is the 1st runner up.

Today on 25th December 2014, there are reports stating that the Government has banned the Miss Tanzania contest for two years due to various reasons and irregularities which were made by themselves, including massive fraud arising out each year in the contest.

These decisions have been taken by BASATA, where the Acting Executive Council of BASATA, Godfrey Mngereza has announced these decisions which was reached after an Evaluation meeting where Miss Tanzania Committee failed to answer basic argument from stakeholders to acknowledge the existence of weaknesses in the operation of the competition.

"After going through all the details and information of the assessment of the competition, its best to stop the competition for a certain period of time so that the organizers can prepare themselves better and return with the power to organize a competition with higher grades than it is today ..." said Mngereza.


The competition has been linked with various scandals since 2006, including crowning the contestants who doesnt meets the criteria.
