President Kikwete has appointed Prof. Asad to be the new CAG replacing Ludovick Utouh


President Kikwete has appointed Prof Mussa J. Assad,to be the Controller & Auditor General (CAG). The appointment began since Nov. 5, 2014

Prof. Assad will be sworn in tomorrow, Tuesday, 2nd of December,  four in the morning, at  the State House in Dar es Salaam.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Assad was Associate Professor at thr Department of Accounting, University of Dar es Salaam and takes the role of  Ludovick Utouh who retires in accordance with the Public Service Law.

Professor Assad is a graduate, with professionalism, knowledge and extensive experience of accounting and financial controls who has a PhD Degree in Accounting  from the University of Southampton - England, in 2001 and PhD Degree in Financial Management (MA in Financial Accounting) from the University of Dublin City, Republic of Ireland in 1991.

Professor Assad also has a Diploma in Professional Accounting (Professional Diploma in Accounting) from Dublin City University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Business (Bachelor of Commerce) of the University of Dar Es Salaam in 1988.

With professional experience, Professor Assad has extensive experience in the area of accounting and auditing. He was Chairman of the Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) for seven years (2007-2014); President and Member of the Association of Accountants Africa (Pan African Federation of Accountants) since 2012; and is a member of several Boards of Directors in Tanzania.

In appointing Professor Juma Mussa Assad to be the Controller and Auditor-General of the Government, the President has great faith that his education, knowledge, skills and experience will enable Professor Assad to discharge the responsibilities of that position which is very important in the governance of our country.
