WASIRA: Quality of the candidate will be the foundation of victory in 2015 Election
Minister of State, in the President's Office (Relations and Coordination), Stephen Wasira said the quality of the candidate will be the foundation of victory in the Local Government Elections December 14 and the General Election 2015.
Speaking in Arusha over the weekend, Wasira who is mentioned to be one of the candidate who vie for the presidential nomination in the 2015 general election.
"No party can win the Election depending on its popularity or the quantity of its members" said Wasira
He said, If voting would be considered by the quantity of party members, then CCM are not supposed to campaign at all as its the country's number one political party with the most members and therefore CCM can easily win the Election.
Responding to the question of what his opinion about the research of the Institute of Twaweza about the presidency next year, Wasira said: "First I haven't read the research, so that means i don't know the criteria and samples of their research, but its obviously that the quality of a candidate or candidates is the foundation of victory in the election."
The minister, who was in Arusha to attend CCM meetings through his role of guardianship of the party in Arusha Region. he said the time for leaders to consider the size and popularity of their political parties during the campaign and election has expired, instead each party must access and select the best candidates.
